A seriously ill eleven-year old girl made a wallet for her favorite football player! This inspiring story was flashed all over the media in September of 2013. Allison Christensen was admitted to a children’s hospital in Seattle for a heart transplant. One day when she heard that the Sea-hawks quarterback Russell Wilson was coming to meet the kids, she was thrilled! Allison made Wilson a special duct-tape wallet. At one point of time doctors anticipated that she may not survive more than two weeks. However, the brave little girl defied such news and lived beyond that timeline. We think that it was her enthusiasm and keenness to meet Wilson that kept her alive.
Lost Wallet, restored humanity
Another news story went viral on social media when someone posted a photograph of a ‘Thank You’ note taken in New York City. Through the write up, an individual thanked the ‘kind person’ who returned their lost wallet. It triggered a series of kindness stories of returning purses, wallets and phones. It’s said to be a silent epidemic of good deeds that engaged people. Such humane acts can certainly save people from suffering losses, and will give a glimmer of hope that honesty still prevails.
The Humane Side of a Gift
The stories above are different except that both of them are somehow related to wallets. In the first instance, the little girl showed her grit and made a special wallet for her hero. In the second story, a kind and honest gesture caused inspiration to others that’s the need-of-the-hour. These two stories symbolize admiration, affection, compassion and honesty. Aren’t those true humane reasons behind handing over a gift?
Why We Gift Wallets?
There is hardly any other accessory that’s used as much as a wallet in terms of daily usage. It’s an integral part of our life. Other than carrying cash and cards, we also carry our family photographs in them. On numerous occasions, people lose their wallets and rue over the lost photographs than the missing cash. Now, maybe it’s time that we carry only the essential things for daily use, rather than losing those pieces that have memories attached to them.
Get Maximum out of a Minimal
Just like little Allison, if you want to gift a wallet to your hero, a friend or a family member, what kind of wallet would that be? Will it be a traditional leather wallet, a cardholder with a metal body, or a magic wallet? A ‘magic’ wallet is not magical in the typical sense. It doesn’t weave any magical illusion; rather it does the magic of hiding in your pocket, and keeping your cash/cards safe. It’s slim, lightweight, compact and trendy. You can even customize it by putting a sticker of your favorite football/baseball team’s logo, a superhero, or some other theme on it.
These wallets are thin and small, but much stronger because of the neoprene and silicone materials used in them. Magic wallets have multi-protection abilities to combat water, heat and sweat. Such a wallet can be a nice gift to anybody that you love or like. It can surely create some special moments of warmth and ‘magic’ in their life.
